Mission Statement



It is the mission of the Department of Education to graduate all of Georgia's public school students with a meaningful diploma based upon rigorous standards delivered by an effective qualifies workforce.

  • Increase high school graduation rate, decrease high-school dropout rate, and increase post-secondary enrollment
  • Make policies that ensure maximum academic and financial accountability
  • Strengthen teacher quality, recruitment and retention
  • Improve SAT, ACT and achievement scores of GA students
  • Improve workforce readiness skills
  • Develop strong leaders particularly at the building level
